"Almost Heroes"

"Almost Heroes" (1998) is the untold story of Bartholomew Hunt (Chris Farley) and Leslie Edwards (Matthew Perry), who lead a team of third-rate explorers racing Lewis and Clark to the Pacific Ocean first. This tale was untold for good reason, as the IQ of the entire crew combined is about the same as your average Kardashian.

Again, we have a stupid comedy. I love stupid comedies, I'm just thinking that we've had too many of them in the beginning of our collection. This movie is typical Chris Farley comedy with a period setting, and there are plenty of "Angry Farley" moments throughout. If you don't like Chris Farley movies, this is not the movie for you.

There is nothing amazing in this movie, but it is entertaining. The bit where Hunt needs to gather the egg of an eagle to save Edwards is pretty hilarious. Just before this the team spends some time at Snakes Bend, and most everything that happens there is full of laughs.

This was Chris Farley's last movie before he passed away. It seems a lot of actors end up doing something that would rather be forgotten as their last movie, but I don't see this as the case. Is "Almost Heroes" as good as "Tommy Boy" or "Black Sheep"? Nope! But it is enjoyable. Like "Airheads", this used to be a Saturday Morning Comedy Central go-to. If you haven't seen it, give it a go. But honestly, you're not missing much. Apart from perhaps the worst sword fight in cinematic history.
