"Cop Out" (2010)

Kevin Smith directs his first movie which he did not write, and also his first movie produced by a major production company. In "Cop Out", Bruce Willis and Tracey Morgan play Jimmy and Paul, two New York police officers who are more of laughing stock than good cops. After getting suspended for busting up an undercover operation in the complete wrong way, Jimmy goes to sell a rare and expensive baseball card but is robbed by two small-time crooks. Jimmy and Paul then pull out all the stops to catch the crooks, which inevitably pits them against a Mexican drug lord.

The important thing here is that "Cop Out" is the last movie on the top shelf of our collection! That means we're a quarter of the way through our non-comic, non-family, non-Muppets, non-Tolkien/Star Wars/CS Lewis movies!

Unfortunately for all the talent involved in "Cop Out", it was pretty bad. If it were just another buddy cop movie, it wouldn't receive as much hate as it did. If it wasn't directed by Kevin Smith, it wouldn't receive as much hate as it did. People expect things from Kevin Smith, and those things are not this movie. To make up for the cliche story, Tracey Morgan spits out joke at the speed of light, sputtering saliva the entire time.

Look, I don't want to spend much time on this movie. Everyone makes a movie they're not proud of once in a while. I think "Cop Out" was this movie for a lot of people involved. The Kevin Smith stand-up "Kevin Smith: Too Fat for 40" filmed after this movie was way better, so just watch that instead. He has some stories about events that happened on set that I would have preferred to watch on film.

Just skip it. Seriously. You're not missing anything. The funniest part of the movie is the opening scene where Tracey Morgan insists on "playing the bad guy". So that you don't need to watch this crap, I found the scene on Youtube. Seriously, the only good part of the movie. Just take my word for it.
